About

Jaisalmer, India

My name is Holly Rose, and I am a 26-year-old girl from the heart of the Suffolk countryside, England. I graduated from University with first class degrees in BSc Psychology and MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology. Besides England, I have worked in Greece, South Africa, and Vietnam. I think I have always had a passion for travelling, learning about the world, and all things outdoors – but in recent years the dreams became my reality.

I’ve been nicknamed “holly-day abroad-way” one too many times for it not to be made into something more. Over the years and multiple countries visited I have developed a vast amount of knowledge about the world and how to travel it. Combined with a passion for writing, photography and all things creative, a blog seemed the perfect opportunity and platform to create. This is a snippet of the internet I can call my own -and even if no one shares it with me, it can be my very own virtual memory bank.

I started to travel a lot on frequent weekends away with friends during university – a time when the world seemed newly accessible to me. I had turned 18, I was earning and saving my own money and quite frankly, had little else to spend it on. Many a library study session turned into holiday hunting – booking short trips away to the likes of Amsterdam, Krakow, Marrakech and Edinburgh, before eventually venturing further overseas to Bali, celebrating the end of our final year.

I quickly learned how to travel on a budget, and how to find the best cheap flights and hotel deals online. My once confusion over how people could afford to go on holiday so frequently became an understanding that it can be accessible, if you put your money in the right places. I realised you could travel for very little, if you’re willing to make the necessary sacrifices along the way.

Soon the trips became more frequent and expanded, when I went on my first solo trip to South Africa in 2018. Less than a year later, I was on my first one-way ticket to South-East Asia in 2019, and from there I simply never looked back. My adventures have shaped the person I am today, and I am proud of the stories I have to tell and experiences I fondly recall from memory daily. I’ve been exposed to new cultures, foods, languages, religion and ways of life. Opportunities now feel endless and my horizon has been broadened, in ways I think only travel (and particularly solo-travel) can do.

This all brings us to today; two one-way tickets, 4 continents, 20+ countries and too many cities to count later, and the same dream for the list to just keep on growing.

I hope you’ll join me for the ride.
